Batesville Skatepark Project – Batesville Skatepark Project started up in 2007 by local school teacher, Emily Griste and her students. With support from the City of Batesville and a Tony Hawk Grant, Batesville currently has approximately $35,000 in the budget to build a concrete skatepark at the American Legion City park located half a mile from the square. The park currently contains a concrete pad with various street obstacles built by a local resident.
The plan is to build a “backyard style” bowl that will meet the needs of both beginner and advanced skateboarders with a street area containing street features designed and built by local skateboarders as well. The project will be relying heavily on community workers to build the skatepark so that the majority of the funds can be spent on materials such as steel and concrete, giving as much skateable surface as possible.
The project is overseen by Emily Griste, Blake Mendrop, and Wrex Cook. If you would like to find out more about this project and how you can help, please contact us through firstname.lastname@example.org. The project is currently in planning and design phase.
